The Castrol Honda Superbike costs an approximate DM30.000, until April 9th 1998 only a small elite can afford this powerful bike with 750cc and a top speed of over 300 kmh. But don't worry after this date every PC owner can afford something that's almost as good for only DM79,95: Castrol Honda Superbike World Championship from Interactive Entertainment.
The game has an official license, and has been technically supported by the Castrol Honda Team. So Castrol Honda Superbike World Champions is a competitive race simulation, with which every PC owner can try out the motorcycle that won the Superbike Championship 1997 (John Kocinski!): the breath taking Honda RC45!
The championship mode takes the player across the globe, from the United Kingdom to Greece, the United States, Thailand and Japan, in a mix of Grand Prix and street races. The Grand Prix races give high top speeds, chicanes and long curves which really demand all a drivers has. The Isle-of-man street race holds the 'normal' risks such as bumpy bridges, crossings and buildings, that are no threat at normal speeds, but this is a superbike race, and with a speed of over 300 kmh they hold a quite different look.
The Castrol Honda Superbike World Championship simulation is just about
the closest thing to the real driving feeling of driving yourself. The
mechanics and control of the machine are so perfectly simulated by
Interactive Entertainment that it acts just like its real life counterpart.
And the artificial intelligence of the computer driven riders makes
sure of a realistic race, in which tactics plays just as an important role
as full
throttle. If you find the race a bit to hard you can turn on the training
mode that gives help by automatic braking and changing gear, so that any
driver can complete the races in one go.
As all racing teams the Castrol Honda team has its technicians, that
make sure that you can always get the maximum performance out of your bike.
In Castrol Honda Superbike World Championship you can optimal change the
set up of your bike for your driver before every race. For fine tuning
the handling of your machine, or to adjust it to the special characteristics
of the track you are racing. The tracks are exceptionally close to the
original tracks, into every detail, even the landscapes and buildings.
Of course one doesn't see much of that, flying through the streets at more
than 300 kmh. But if you take your time to look at the surroundings,
it will remind you of a vacation postcard. The game really come through
because of it's high frame rate that ensures a realistic feeling of
high speed.
Castrol Superbike World Championship is no lonesome business, that would
be egoistic, there is the possibility to drive with 5 friends through LAN.
Once you have completed all the championship races with win then gives
Castrol Honda Championship a special surprise. Experience the original
Motegi test circuit of Honda! That's the ultimate dream for the real
