Flyby is a futuristic racing game in which you drive anti-gravity ships flying at incredible speeds. Gorgeous environment, dangerous and intelligent ennemies, bombs and missiles, great bonuses, featuring next-generation networking, that's what you get and much more. Flyby is our latest project. We did the graphics, design and developping during summer of 97. We worked very hard from 8 AM to 8 PM each day, even the weekend. This is a lot of work but it's still incomplete. In the beginning, we wanted this game to be commercially released on CD-ROM. We developped a highly performing 3D engine that met our needs and a lot of tools to get the job done. You can't get a better free 3D source code. Untill now, nobody ever released freely a commercial quality source code. We hope you appreciate it.
People involved with this project: (According to the Wrecks Website)
Jean-Francois Nadeau did the 3D engine, the interface, 3ds max plug-ins and the DirectDraw stuff.

Studying at Cegep Ste-Foy.
Hobby: Computers, programming, gadgets.
Music: Radiohead, Bjork, Portishead.
Mathieu Routhier did the physics, collision detection, all the nice tools and DirectX stuff.

Special thanks to Michael Wimmer for his great help.
3D engine features
Designed for a racing game.
Supports infinite real-time coloured omnis and directional lights.
(Always use the four nearest lights.)
Mip-mapping dynamic caching algorithm. (Works best with AGP devices.)
Absolutely no limitations on the geometry. (Pushes the z-buffer to
it maximum power.)
Powerful 3D clipping and backface culling.
Basic collision detection. (With ray-tracing-like method.)
Handles up to 300 000 tri/sec at 30 fps on a Pentium200. (Supports
even more on a PentiumII.)
