GAME DESCRIPTION

Microsoft Cart Precision Racing is being developed for Microsoft by Terminal Reality Inc. It is a formula one racing game, see below for more details.
( I incorrectly stated before that this was a go kart racing game, sorry :-) )

Digitalsports posted the preview of Microsoft's upcoming Cart Precision Racing, here's some notes (from Operation 3DFX):

CART Precision Racing offers accurate 3-D car models rendered in amazing detail, right down to the turbo pop-off valve and visible suspension movement, as well as a real-world vehicle physics model. Convincing motion captured pit stops deliver an engaging racing simulation that lets gamers experience the exciting and challenging world of a CART driver. Racing tracks have been electronically surveyed to an accuracy of 10 cm using global positioning system (GPS) technology to provide the most accurately modeled tracks available for PC racers. Users can download real-world data from actual CART races and update driver and team statistics within the product. Race results and car setups will also be available online and can be integrated into the game so that race car setups and race weekend qualifying grids are current with the real world of CART racing.

Overview:

CART (Championship Auto Racing Teams) Precision Racing is a game that will give you the chance to drive an Indy car on your PC through a series of races that make up an Indy season. The game has been built from the ground up with a new engine that will offer true 3-D graphics, accurate tracks and Indy cars, photorealistic graphics, and sound-recorded sound effects. CART will also be fully multiplayer-capable via The Zone or over a LAN or modem connection. Now..on to the juicy stuff--the details.

Features:

Indy car Models: CART has been designed with the hardcore racing fan in mind. The car models have been taken from actual Indy cars to help provide an accurate feel. Although the game IS a 'true sim' you can alter the amount of realism that you want (see screen shot below).
Real World Data: Racing tracks have been electronically surveyed to an accuracy of 10 cm using global positioning system technology to provide as much accuracy as possible in capturing every Indy track on the circuit. You can download real-world data from actual CART races and update driver and team stats within the game. (Admittedly--that's pretty cool. -ed) Race results and car setups will also be available online and can be integrated into the game so that race car setups and race weekend qualifying grids are current with the REAL world of CART racing.
The CART Experience: Microsoft is trying to capture the FEEL of being in an Indy car. Vibrations (with Force Feedback), turns, acceleration, and other forces affect the driver's view. It's not going to be all smooth sailing--driving an Indy car is tough.
The AI: This is always the toughie-in any game. But CART will try to add more realism to the races with an AI model that will have computer controlled drivers be very aggressive. We'll have to see what the final results are like.
The Virtual Mechanic: You will have access to your own 'virtual mechanic' who will give feedback to help determine the best setup for their cars. In addition, comprehensive online help enables you to understand the real science of race car engineering. If that's REALLY possible in a computer game we shall see. <g>
Presentation: TV announcer Bob Varsha provides authentic race commentary from start to finish
Multiplayer: Up to 8 players can race head-to-head via LAN and up to 4 players via the Internet
3D Support: The game will support any 3D card that is compatible with Direct3D.
CART Licensed product: Microsoft has worked with CART so that they can bring you the actual teams, drivers, and venues of the CART series.

"Cart Precision Racing in Glide.. You can get the 50k patch for it Here. Here is the email Tony Sent us about the patch..

I recieved this file that implements the 3dfx 'and' the Voodoo2 in Cart Precision Racing. I'm not going to get into all of the gory details on how I obtained this patch, just enjoy it. Simply D/L the small file and drop directly into your Cart Precision Racing folder, voila! CPR in Glide! Spread the word, Glide is here for CPR and it is a real treat. Thank god, no more D3D-CPR! It makes you wonder, was there actualy a Glide file that was suppose to be in CPR when it shipped and MS says,"D3D Only". I beleive yes.

All you need to do to install the DLL is copy it into your CART directory and then select glide from the graphic options menu.
