Along with the enhanced AI, NASCAR Racing 1999 has added Native Windows
95/98 and 3Dfx support. The 3Dfx support is quite a welcome addition. Although
I have been running the game on an original Monster 3D board, I found the
game to run without a hitch with all of the effects turned on. Seeing the
mobile homes on the infield and the billboards around the track all help
to make the racing experience come alive.
Like NASCAR Racing 2, the 1999 Edition allows you to participate in the Winston Cup circuit and race against all of the top drivers. Furthermore, with NASCAR Racing 1999, Papyrus has added, for the first time, the ability to race in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (with a unique physics model for Truck racing) and NASCAR Grand National Series. With these additional series, NASCAR Racing 1999 includes over 60 licensed drivers and cars/trucks. Furthermore, you will be able to race on any of 35 NASCAR Tracks.
The successful car setup interface used in NASCAR Racing 2 makes a return engagement, as does the Paint Shop that allows you to design that perfect car. Unfortunately, the decals in the Paint Shop look unchanged from those of last year, but they still provide a good place from which to start your designs.
NASCAR Racing 1999 Edition has taken all that was good in the previous versions of the game and added 3Dfx support, 2 new racing series with a new Truck racing physics model, new drivers and tracks. However, the strength of this game seems to be found on the track. With the more responsive controls and improved opponent AI, NASCAR Racing 1999 will be something to look forward to for novices and gearheads alike.
Here's another picture from the game.

NASCAR Racing 1999 Edition creates an authentic racing simulation for drivers of all ages. With the help of a spotter and crew chief, you can experience the excitement of driving on the tracks of the 1998 Winston, Grand National, and Craftsman Truck Series. Customize cars and trucks to achieve maximum speed, strategize to outsmart your opponents and race wide-open to take the checkered flag.
